Sierra Avalanche Center (SAC) – SAC provides backcountry avalanche advisories for Lake Tahoe and Truckee. If you’re even thinking about playing in the mountains during the winter, use this link daily. SAC is a non-profit organization supported solely by local volunteers, Lake Tahoe ski resorts, sponsors and those of you who attend the SAC Ski Days at discount rates. Lake Tahoe Road Conditions:
State Route 88 – leading into Kirkwood
State Route 89 – Pickett’s Junction headed into South Lake Tahoe, and West Shore of Lake Tahoe
US Highway 50 – South Lake Tahoe
I80 – headed to Truckee and North Lake Tahoe
US395 – entering via Reno, Carson City, Bishop, Mammoth and Inyo County along the Other Side of California, the east side.
